The Father of Internet Speaks!

Vinton G Cerf, the so called Father of Internet, Chief Internet Evangelist, VP Google, was here in Bangalore. There was a buzz of his coming from some time.. abhi and me decided to go in the last minute, of course he got that jpg invite! The talk was pretty decent. He was a simple man with good sense of humor and he talked on the various things on how technology was being used to improve life.
He talked on the various problems that the present technology is facing. Semantic networking being one of them. He is working on the interplanetary internet system. The major focus being communication between Earth and Mars. He explained the problems in setting up such a network.
Cerf predicted that mobile phones, not personal computers, will fuel growth of the worldwide web as countries like India snap up millions of handsets. Then he focussed on using of more mobile phones & laptops so that people know what are the real time problems and how they can be improved. He says internet will be the only medium of communication which will have impact on every facet of life, but definitely there will be a time when some means will be invented which would have a greater impact than the internet.

The talk was a pretty good one. though we rated in between 3-4/5 it was a good chance to go see someone great like Vint Cerf. Every aspect in life is developing and when we see a new one there is definitely no time to look back, and as far as the knowledge bank is increasing tremendously, the present technology will cease to exist.
